Best of 2015

Poi dettagli in pizzo, eleganti e ricercati.
Buon 2016 a tutti!

Best of 2015

This year draws to a close and I find myself “flip” the pages of my digital diary, retracing the most beautiful experiences and the strongest emotions that I have tried over the past three-hundred-sixty-five days.
These days have been challenging, enjoyable, entertaining, thrilling, some relaxing, many more strenuous. I took more than 100 trains and over 25 planes to visit new cities and others already seen.
Milan is now my second home, a home that has been able to welcome me with open arms and has made me love it slowly, revealing unexpected and wonderful aspects. In this year consolidated new friendships that became an important part of my day and my life. Roberto, Elisa, Clara and Flora above all.
2015 was definitely an year of travel. I went to 8 Fashion Week: 2 New York Fashion Week, 4 times at the Milan Fashion Week and 2 at Paris Fashion Week. I spent a long time abroad, but I also found many places of my beautiful Italy: Trieste, Treviso, Bologna, Cinque Terre, Rome, Florence, Lucca, Naples, Puglia, Taormina, the Aeolian Islands.
2015 was also a year of major print and online publications on some of the most important magazines in Italy and abroad: Vogue Italy, Vogue Vogue.com and Turkey, to name a few. But the publication I loved most (and you probably already saw it on my Instagram) was the one by Vanity Fair Italy which included one of my streetstyle outfit in the list of the 50 most beautiful street style. I also worked as a stylist for the March iusse of Glamour Italy: an incredible experience to challenge my self and creativity!
But let’s step back. 2015 was primarily a year of many first times.
I was for my first time in New York City. It feels so strange to me reading my last post of 2014 and regain the trip to New York in my dreams for the new year. The City of Blinding Lights won me over from the first evening: its streets overflowing with cars and yellow cabs, its towering skyscrapers, billboards that are on every single corner and, in general, the positive energy that you breathe in the air. I found myself, walking in Times Square and, for a moment, I really felt the sensation of being at the center of this world! The experience at the Fashion Week in New York, then, was incredible (also incredibly cold!) so I decided to come back there again, for a third time in February 2016.
I wore for the first time in my life the white dress, for an editorial published on White Sposa (January 2015), photographed by the excellent Cosimo Buccolieri. It was a great emotion. The dress then was absolutely perfect, with its wide skirt, like a real princess. Floating, soft, with many layers of tulle overlaid one on each other. Then lace details, elegant and refined. And in my hair a crown with cute little white hearts. Every time I see this picture I can not stop smiling!
In 2015 I found myself getting lost several times through the streets of the French Riviera and Provence. In January, for a short road trip: I am one of those people who love the sea always, even in winter. And Montecarlo covered by snow (fake of course), between the wonderful decorations made for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, really leaves me speechless: it seems to be in a fairy tale. Then I came back in July, making another small dream true: see the blooming lavender in Valensole. And someone who knew this desire decided to make it real for my birthday, which is also be the best moment to enjoy this amazing spectacle of nature. Imagine my delight when I found myself for the first time in the middle of these purple fields. The smell was intoxicating and the lavender was almost everywhere, far beyond the horizon. I did not know which side to watch, such was the beauty that surrounded me. Here I took my favorite photos ever. From this year and ever.
Another first time in Trieste, last summer, with Swarovski for the International Talent Support (an event that each year brings together all of the most promising talents from the best international fashion schools, with the purpose to support them and give them a concrete opportunity for personal and professional growth). I’m really excited for all these young guys and for the many small and big dreams that have taken place in front my eyes. In particular, it was wonderful to see how each one of them was really happy for the successes of others. It was priceless!
Italy during this 2015 has been able to show my eyes in all its beauty, with cities and countries that I really loved. These are four of my favorite destinations. Puglia and Taranto and with V73: a farm, few steps far from the sea, dinners with fresh raw fish, blue vessels of the ancient port and the Castello Aragonese. Portofino and the small Dolce & Gabbana bag, an unexpected gift from my boy and also the only time of the year when I was completely speechless. Then Taormina along with 14 other bloggers from all over Europe, for a two-days boat ride to the Aeolian Islands with Stradivarius: water clear as a swimming pool and the excitement of the first swim of the season. Finally the Cinque Terre and Vernazza, a fishing village with a thousand colored houses, perched on the sea with a view like no others. Here, I took another photo I love so much about this year: the sunset from the hill, with the sun was lost behind the horizon and the village changing its colors from yellow to pink and red. One of the most exciting moments. And, speaking of emotions, I recall them, the two cities which made me dream the most during 2015. Paris and Istanbul.
In Paris I was three times: one with Sarenza and two at the Fashion Week. As always it is the most chic city, the most magical, that can charm you with its dream location, and the parades of the biggest fashion brands internationally. I have almost no free time during the Fashion Weeks, but in Paris I like to carve out a moment for me, where I could relax and enjoy the beautiful flower gardens of the Palais-Royal.
In Istanbul instead I have been twice. The first one for an editorial for the Swarovski official magazine. Between Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, the Topkapi Palace and the obligatory boat trip over the Bosphorus. It was a crazy sensory experience: lights, scents and colors that have left an indelible memory in me. Enough to push me to go back, choosing it as the first stop of my summer road trip of Turkey. Over 1000 km between Istanbul, Bursa, Alacati, Ephesus and Bordum. One of the best trips ever. Ten days to discover a completely different culture, which made us completely fall in love.
But the great discovery of this year was certainly Germany, where I’ve been twice. The first in early summer, in Essen, for a project that would materialized in the fall: my capsule collection for the brand of shoes Deichmann, that has been sold out in just two months, both online and in stores. It was an immense satisfaction and I will never stop to thank each of you: thanks for having supported me and for sharing with me your photos where you wore one of the three models of shoes that I made. This was absolutely the best gift you could ever give me!
The second time was at the end of the summer, in Berlin with Zalando for the one that was was surely one of the most beautiful projects I’ve ever got involved in: one of those projects organized in every single detail, where every corner seemed to be straight out of a board of Pinterest, so as not to seem almost real impressive. A showroom set up in the middle of nature, an hairdresser who has woven for me a crown of yellow flowers, a dinner in the woods on a table surrounded by bright lights, bonfires at night and my very first yoga class. One of those experiences that make you recharge your batteries, one of those experiences that will remain forever in my heart.
And if traveling is something wonderful, the beauty of every trip is also to have a home to return to. And for me the house are all the people who live in my Turin. My family, my boyfriend and the team I work with, which this year will be even more structured to allow me to achieve all the goals I dream for the new year. Without the right attitude, good things do not happen and that is what I wish to each of you. May you shine tonight: no matter how it was last year, no matter where you are or who you are, no matter what awaits you tomorrow. It ‘s time to open the drawer of dreams, to do everything to achieve here, now, immediately, as soon as possible. Seize the day, but above all be happy…Wish you a bright 2016!
