3 days in Taormina with Giorgio Armani Beauty
Last weekend Giorgio Armani Parfums has led me to Taormina to discover the world of Gioia! Three fragrances: in addition to the original one, Aqua, the two new Air and Sun of Gioia were presented. The experience in Taormina has been entirely organized to follow the trail, trying to let me and other influencers discover all these three elements. Here is my diary of three wonderful days in Taormina!
FIRST DAY
I arrived in Sicily in the afternoon and I reached my traveling companions to find out what Giorgio Armani Parfums planned for us. It had been set up a cooking show with true Sicilian cooks who had the task (difficult) to teach us to cook sicilian typical dishes: brioche, almond milk, almond and mandarin granita. It was really fun and interesting to prepare those delicacies, so much so that now that I’m back in Turin I want to experience again the recipes that I learned! Maybe you’ll see the result soon on Instagram and Snapchat (@lauracomolli)!
In the evening we reached Acireale, to dine at Villa La Limonaia. A magical place, where the table had been set up so elegantly and we could sneak a preview of the three scents of Gioia. Besides Aqua, the original Eau de Parfum and my favorite one, I smelled Air, a citrus slightly musky fragrance, and Sun, quite floral with notes of freesia, bergamot and jasmine. I then tasted a typical Sicilian dinner cooked by Michelin-starred chef Francesco Patti and Domenico Colonnetta… I can only say that every course was absolutely delicious!
SECOND DAY
The second day started with a light breakfast on the Hotel terrace… Light because we knew we were going to expect a gulet tour to explore the coves and caves of Taormina, including the wonderful Grotta Azzurra. A excursion that I absolutely recommend to you!
Once back from the gulet tour, we had lunch at the buffet on the beach and after we relaxed a couple of hours in the sun before embarking on a new adventure organized by Giorgio Armani Parfums! If in the morning we literally dived in the Water and at lunch in the Sun, in the afternoon it was the turn of the Air! I went out for an helicopter tour of Mount Etna! As you will see from the photos, the sky just before the landing was quite cloudy and it war raining during the flight… Despite this, and although I do not love flying, the experience was nothing short of exciting! See the Gulf of Taormina, the Greek Theatre and the Isola Bella from above is a truly amazing experience that I’m so glad to have done, despite the initial fear!
Once finished our last tour of the day, we arrived back at the hotel right in time to enjoy the sunset. We then relaxed, always at the hotel, and enjoyed an excellent aperitif and dinner.
THIRD DAY
The last day was totally free from commitments, so I took the opportunity to visit the center of Taormina and enjoy the last hours of sun, sand and sea at Isola Bella!
I had been to Taormina a couple of times before and, now as then, I was enchanted by its corners, its views and also by its little shops… Here is a short list of three places you can not miss in Taormina!
– The Greek Theatre. A visit is a must, even during the day, even without attending one of the many shows and concerts that are often held inside. If you can see one, though, lucky you!
– Piazza IX Aprile. The main square of Taormina is a magical place where one side is covered by oleander plants, while on the other there is a roof terrace with a magnificent view on the sea!
– From Piazza IX Aprile starts Corso Umberto I, the main street with small boutiques, bakeries and shops selling local products, as well as a particular shop selling beautiful colored ceramics and the famous vases with the Moors of Taormina (it is called Don Corleone Objects)!
WHERE I STAYED
I stayed at Atahotel Capotaormina, situated in a unique location on the cliff. Built in the Eighties, but very nice and clean. It offers both a pool and a tiny beautiful private beach, both reachable with a lift! It is worth it just for the magnificent panoramic terrace where breakfast is held, from which you can enjoy a complete view on the Gulf of Taormina!
I hope you enjoyed reading my diary of three days in Taormina!
I sincerely thank all of the Giorgio Armani Parfums team for this wonderful experience!
Have a good Friday and happy weekend to you all!
