Where to stay in London for a special weekend
In London for a special weekend. It’s always nice to go back to places you’ve already been and enjoyed, and create new, beautiful memories to add to the previous ones. And that’s exactly what I did last weekend with my friend Alec. Together we decided that London, a destination that we both had already visited in the past, would have been the perfect destination for a weekend of relaxation and maximum comfort. In fact, the two hotels we have chosen for this special occasion are five-star luxury hotels that offer unique services. Both perfect for a special weekend, to celebrate a special occasion or simply for those who like to treat themselves well… Read on to discover them in detail!
Where to stay in London for a special weekend
The first hotel I want to talk to you about is Four Seasons London At Ten Trinity. This hotel opened just a couple of years ago, and is located at the iconic address of 10 Trinity Square in an impressive building that was built in the 1920s to house the Port of London Authority headquarters. How beautiful is the neoclassical façade?
We had been given an incredible suite of 218 square meters, beautifully furnished with design elements that I found really outstanding. One more beautiful than the other were the lights and the marvelous choice of marble as a common thread from the floors to the furnishings. The suite included a large and spacious living room, a kitchen (which obviously we didn’t use!), a first double bedroom with attached bathroom and a second bedroom, if possible even more beautiful, with walk-in closet and a bathroom entirely in marble: guess where I ended up staying?!
After lunch we enjoyed a moment of relax in the warmth in front of the fireplace. Also in marble, perfectly identical to that in the apartment of the protagonist of one of my favorite TV shows ever, Gossip Girl. I don’t know you, but I used to never miss an episode!
We then prolonged this relaxing moment in the spa of the Four Seasons, where we allowed ourselves an hour between hammam, sauna and the beautiful pool!
For dinner we had reserved a table in one of the restaurants inside the Four Seasons At Ten Trinity, the Mei Ume Restaurant which offers Asian cuisine. Here, too, the atmosphere was very elegant: we ordered edamame with chili sauce as appetizer, then a nigiri-mix dish, one of uramaki salmon, avocado and crab, a shrimp tempura and then lobster noodles with a side of ginger and onion. All accompanied by two amazing cocktails!
The next morning we chose to have us serve breakfast directly in our suite, ordering many of the dishes offered by the Four Seasons cuisine. Often when I travel I find myself making breakfasts much bigger than usual. I love this meal with all my heart: for me it is the first and most important of the day, often a substitute for lunch. The rush hours are the best for taking pictures and, when I travel for work, I dedicate almost the entire time for the shooting, often forgetting to stop eating.
As soon as we finished our breakfast, we noticed a warm sun peeping through the classic London gray clouds, so we took the opportunity to go out for a walk: in a few steps we found ourselves walking along the most iconic bridge in London, as well as one of my absolute favorite places: the Tower Bridge!
In the afternoon we moved to the second hotel of our special weekend, The Langham London. Located in the West End, this hotel has an ancient history behind it: it was among the first hotels ever built in London in the late nineteenth century and the first ever with hydraulic lifts!
As soon as we enter the lobby, we discover that there were pink details pretty much everywhere, with wonderful floral installations of roses and orchids that leave you truly breathless!
And I was casually wearing a perfectly matched look! Below you can see the beautiful room where Afternoon Tea is served: this salon is one of the most famous in the city!
We come now to the suite that had been reserved for us. Here, too, marble was the leitmotif and also the elegant furnishings: from the living room to the two bedrooms, in pastel colors, each with its own marble bathroom complete with tub and shower. A sweet welcome for us: a basket with two oranges covered with exquisite chocolate from Valencia and a box of chocolates! It’s so nice to be spoiled once in a while!
For dinner, we had reserved a table at the Roux At The Landau Restaurant located within the Langham. The salon is of a unique beauty and immediately caught my attention: at the center there is a counter displaying meats, cheeses and shellfish. Only fresh products. We ordered oysters and Cornish crab salad with radishes and sesame seeds as starters. Then lobster pasta with saffron emulsion, foie gras and vegetable pot au feu with chestnut emulsion and Dauphiné ravioli. Finally, as desserts, a slice of pecan pie with a scoop of ice cream and maple syrup and a coconut sorbet.
The Roux is considered one of the best restaurants in London and was also used as the location of the movie “Burnt” with one of my favorite actors, Bradley Cooper!
Although we were super full, after dinner we decided to give us one last cuddle: a cocktail at the Artesian, the bar inside the Langham that has won the title of World’s Best Bar for five years in a row! The menu is unbelievable and very creative: each cocktail has the name of a particular moment of life, decided on the analysis of which flavors and fragrances people tend to associate with that moment, and is designed to bring out that memory precisely. For example you can find the cocktail “When you turned 18” or the “When you wen traveling”: this is what Alec and I both ordered… Cheers!
Even on our last day in London we had the hotel spoiling us with a huge breakfast in the room, accompanied by a beautiful vase of yellow tulips. Speaking about flowers, The Langham offers its customers a very special service: starting from the month of February, it will be possible to buy a special offer including your personal selection of favorite flowers, which you will find fresh directly in your room for the whole stay!
Thus ends the story of our special weekend in London!
Happy Monday and happy start of the week to all of you!
